Leaks Hint 2023 Could Be a ‘Big Year’ for Intel’s ARC Graphics Cards

2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the graphics card market. Rumors suggest NVIDIA has plans to launch their RTX 3090 Ti, AMD will be following up with a competitor to this launch, and newcomer Intel is getting ready to show off their new ARC line of GPUs.

However, it may take Intel some time to get into the level of NVIDIA and AMD, and leaks are suggesting, with a degree of confidence, that company’s efforts will start to show in 2023.

This information comes from Moore’s Law Is Dead YouTube channel. A leaker in close contact with the show’s host said that Intel will have a “big year” in 2023, a year after the launch of their ARC graphics cards.

The source went on to say the company is “increasingly confident” on what the future has in store for their GPUs. The leaker refers to the DG3 cards, known as “Battlemage,” which will likely be out in 2023, as suggested in a recent roadmap of upcoming cards.

The host stated that it would be a better strategy for Intel to target the mid-range market initially, with the DG3 having an impact on the high-end when it is released. Speculations suggest the Intel ARC “Alchemist” GPU may go toe-to-toe with the likes of the NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti that launched this summer with 8 GB of GDDR6X on a 26-bit bus.

If Intel wants to compete with the high-end, it will need something to tackle the RTX 3090 or RTX 3090 Ti, but by 2023, we may already have the next generation of NVIDIA and AMD GPUs in the market.

Rumors suggest the NVIDIA 4000-series cards could be out in mid-2022, Intel will have their work cut out for them in giving a veteran in the GPU market a run for their money. Added to the competition is the ongoing chip shortage that could last until 2023, around the time Battlemage is due, so it is difficult to say what will happen at this point. But, whatever the outcome, the consumer will be the winner in the end.
