Micron’s 24 & 21 Gbps GDDR6X Modules for NVIDIA RTX 40 Series Enter Production

NVIDIA’s next-gen RTX 40 series GPUs have almost arrived, as there isn’t much time left before their launch. The graphics cards are just a couple of months away, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the manufacturing of their parts started by now.

And it seems that the manufacturing of some components has indeed started. Micron is a memory manufacturer company that previously developed the GDDR6 modules for NVIDIA RTX 30 series. And now, it has posted exciting information on the company’s website

Micron has stated that the 16Gb (2GB) GDDR6X modules featuring 24 Gbps speed are now in production. The company has also started the production of 21 Gbps 16Gb GDDR6X.

NVIDIA’s ADA Lovelace GPUs should run at light speed with these enhanced and improved memory modules, but the exciting part isn’t just this. The three high-end ADA cards revealed so far, namely RTX 4090, 4080, and 4070, are supposed to feature only 21 Gbps modules.

Well, so why is Micron making 24 Gbps modules too? It turns out that this could be for the highly anticipated and rumored TITAN successor. This card codenamed “The Beast” received some rumors regarding its specifications about a month ago.

This rumored card is supposed to deliver much faster performance than the RTX 4090 and will possibly be much beefier. Another possibility is that the memory modules could be for the workstation GPUs.

These new GDDR6X modules are “the world’s fastest discrete memory,” as Micron boasts, so wherever they might be used, we sure are looking forward to seeing them in action, just like we’re waiting for Nvidia to tell more about its RTX 40-series rumored to arrive in October.
