Afterlife in Valheim is easy on nobody. Especially on modders, as the game does not officially support mods. But a new mod that lets players zoom in enough to give the game a first-person perspective is out. And it’s quite good.
Spotted by the good folks over at PC Gamer, the mod is still a work in progress but works smooth enough: just scroll in past the usual camera distance and you can start seeing the world in first-person, and scroll right back out when you’re done. So now, immersion chasers can do all the pickaxing, smelting, sailing and potion-making that Vikings did as if it were just another day at work.
The biggest highlight, however, is players getting to experience the game’s beautiful world as if they were right there in the Viking territory. Fighting the four bosses though, can be even more terrifying due to the view itself and also because the combat can be a little bit awkward in first-person. But if you’re comfortable staring at the inside of your shield and not being able to see your player swing his weapon, you’ll feel right at home.
To work the mod, you will need to install BepInExPack Valheim on your system but not to worry, the install is quite easy. Here’s what you need to keep in mind next:
- After you’ve installed it and run the game once, it will create a plugin folder that the First Person View mod can simply be dropped in
- There are readme files for both mods that explain how to get the mods up and running
- The First Person View mod also includes a new config file so you can edit values for FOV in both first and third-person and the font size of damage notifications
