The official announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by Activision and Infinity Ward revealed only the game’s logo and name. While the confirmation definitely was enough to fan the flames of hype amongst the community, it couldn’t quench the curiosity of those who sought to learn more about what the dev has cooked this time around.
But hopefully, if the words of an industry insider with a proven track record of being right are anything to go by, then this is about to change as the first public footage for the sequel to 2019’s MW isn’t far away.
According to a report from Tom Henderson that Exputer published, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reveal would arrive in early June. The insider’s post speculates that the game’s “reveal is expected to be in the form of a standardized reveal trailer that packs campaign footage.”
Further corroborating this statement, fellow credible leaker, TheGhostOfHope, also shed light on Acitivion’s plan for MW2 by claiming that the title’s could be out on June 2, with the campaign reveal dropping on June 9 at Summer Game Fest.
It was previously believed that the MW2’s campaign footage would line up with E3, but with that out of the question, it looks like the game found refuge in the next best alternative.
“Sources had also suggested that campaign gameplay is also expected to be revealed ‘at an event when E3 was meant to be,’ which presumably means around the same time as Summer Games Fest 2022,” said Henderson.
Now moving on to the multiplayer reveal, Henderson’s sources pointed out that it will likely take place sometime in August, but he had no clarity over whether the reveal would include a Warzone event as the previous two CoD reveals did or not.
Even though the industry insiders in question here are trustworthy figures, we would recommend that you read everything they say with a pinch of salt. Neither Infinity Ward nor Activision has confirmed anything, and despite these leaks making sense, having a little skepticism wouldn’t be the worst thing.
