Old ‘Remakes’ Rumored with New Stories in Assassin’s Creed Infinity

Old ‘Remakes’ Rumored with New Stories in Assassin’s Creed Infinity

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has several titles and spin-offs that have explored various kinds of gameplay. Be it the side-scrolling platformer from the Chronicles series, or the shift to a more RPG-like game from Origins, Assassin’s Creed has been going through its own changes over the years. Assassin’s Creed Infinity is another evolution of the franchise, but people are still confused as to what form the game will ultimately take.

Ubisoft has described this game as an evolving world with multiple settings, taking inspiration from Fortnite and Grand Theft Auto. But that still doesn’t give us a clear idea of the gameplay. Now, we have some alleged insider information from a Redditor that may shed light on this query.

User Smooth-Earth2875 is the one who claims to have this insider knowledge and has stated that the game is still in the early days of conceptualization and development.

They say that they work at Ubisoft and have also reached out to the mod team of the subreddit to offer proof, but they have said Reddit has stopped this as they have a new account. Given the current state of the information, it makes sense to accept it with a healthy dose of skepticism.

According to Smooth-Earth’s information, Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be a small linear experience in a semi-open world setting. They go on to compare the game to the Hitman games.

Players will take on the role of multiple Assassins, and each one’s storyline will feature multiple missions. There will be a completely new story that overarches the entire game and will be developed over time at an additional cost.

Infinity will be leading its own story, and Ubisoft’s new fully open-world Assassin’s Creed games will be continually developed alongside it.

The most exciting claim out of all this information is that Ubisoft will reportedly ‘remake and retell’ older Assassin’s Creed games within Infinity’s structure. Which games this list will include has not yet been revealed.

We likely won’t get a complete remake of every game, rather a recontextualized way to experience the lives and stories of some of the older Assassins like Altair, Ezio, Connor, and others.

Replies to this post echo a similar sentiment: it sounds too good to be true. Many others have claimed to see similar speculations in other Assassin’s Creed communities, which would make sense.

There is a very real possibility that this information is fake, and the leaker is simply pandering to fans’ hopes. The mods have reached out to the poster, asking them to contact the mods through Discord, but no further updates have been made beyond that.
