New Difficulty Mode & Upgraded Stealth Added with AC Valhalla Update

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is easily one of Ubisoft’s biggest revenue makers of the past year. The game has received more post-launch support than any Assassin’s Creed game before it, and there is still more to come. We now have the details of the newly released Title Update and what it adds to the Norse stealth adventure game.

Title Update 1.5.0 dropped today, and the patch notes show that it is full of bug fixes, and clocks in at 15.09GB on PC. This is common for Title Updates and, for a game as massive as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, an essential step to ensure the game is in working order. These fixes include small details such as NPCs abandoning combat too soon or detecting Eivor while using environmental traps. The AI’s reaction to the whistle has also been improved.

  • AI reaction to whistle improved.
  • Players get detected by enemies when using environmental traps.
  • Wild animals detecting Eivor regardless of distance/angle and alerting nearby NPCs.
  • NPCs disengaging from conflicts extremely quickly.
  • Enemy detection cones reducing when using a bow.
  • Monks having difficulty to leave the music crowd stations in the quest Taken (Kidnap Estrid)

The update has added an entirely new difficulty mode: Saga. This is a much easier mode than the ones already present in the game. Enemies will inflict less damage, and they won’t scale with Eivor’s levels. Stealth will also be much easier to perform as enemies will take longer to notice Eivor.

Valhalla already has a long list of accessibility options designed to make the game open to a broader audience and reduce the challenge it may pose. The game is already one of the most accessible in the market, but it is good to see that the team is working on widening this scope even further. New settings that have been tweaked in the accessibility menu include

  • Damage Eivor Takes
  • Eivor Damage Output
  • Ration Healing Ratio
  • Adrenaline Regeneration
  • Enemy Health Modifier

There is a long list of additional bug fixes and improvements included in Title Update 1.5.0. These include numerous UI/HUD issues, visual quirks, Eivor getting stuck in places, and broken Mastery Challenge progression. Title Update 1.5.0 should be available for download whenever you log into your game.
