Almost 400 Top-Ranked Players in Apex Legends Banned!

The top 419 players of Apex Legends have been banned for exploiting an in-game glitch that let them play against the lowest-ranked players of the game.

It’s no surprise that whenever an in-game glitch or exploit surfaces itself to the players, they quickly get to work on finding how to use it to their advantage.

Just go and take a look at the speedrunning community. Exploiting the errors in the game’s code is most of the speedrunner’s bread and butter. But, when you take a look at a multiplayer game, things become a little different.

Multiplayer games need to be played fairly and without exploits, as that is what makes them so much fun in the first place! Improving with each session and getting better and better at the game is a satisfying feeling like no other, and I think any esports professional will agree with me on that.

But sometimes, cheats and exploits in the game’s code are used to gain an unfair advantage and ruin the fun of every other player.

This is what’s been happening in Apex Legends, where, as I stated earlier, the highest-rated players in the game were utilizing a bug to match up with the lower-ranked players of the game.

Let me tell you how it all works. So, the ranked matches of Apex Legends are divided into six tiers – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Apex Predator.

To climb the tiers, all you got to do is earn the RP by playing the matches. However, it is worth noting that climbing tiers are a challenging process, seeing as how, by the end of season 6, only 2 per cent of the total player base managed to reach Diamond Tier or higher.

Seeing as how each match gives you about 100 RP, with a maximum possible of 225 RP, climbing tiers, especially after reaching Diamond, becomes an almost impossible task.

That’s why the players are using the exploit for farming the RP in the lower ranks, which led to Respawn banning almost 500 of the top-ranked players in the game across all platforms.

Here’s what Conner Ford, the Apex Security, had to say about this, which was positively received by many lower-ranked players; their reactions in the comments says it all!

Regardless of how the players react to it, using a game’s exploit in a multiplayer match is clearly wrong and should not be done or promoted at all costs. That said, let’s hope that the high-tiers no longer exploit the lower-ranked players!

About Apex Legends

Apex Legends is a free-to-play FPS battle-royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Upto 20 three-person squads or 30 two-person duos land on an island, scavenge for weapons and supplies and attempt to kill the other players until they are the only team left.

The game features excellent combat and movement mechanics and is generally regarded as one of the more competent battle-royale games out there. Players can choose one amongst the many pre-prepared character models, each of which has it own playstyle and unique move-set.

The game was released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 4, 2019. A Nintendo Switch version released in March 2021. Android and iOS ports are planned for 2022.
