AMD Flagship Radeon RX 7900 NAVI 31 GPUs Might Feature 20 Gbps Memory

More and more leaks are appearing every week on the upcoming next-gen AMD Radeon GPUs. The Radeon 7000 series will use the Navi 31/2/3 series of graphics cards, and the RX 7900 will be the series’s flagship based on the Navi 31 GPU.

Today, we have leaks on the RX 7900 from Greymon. According to the leaker, the RDNA3-based RX 7900 series will feature 20 Gbps memory, which is higher than the previously rumored 18 Gbps.

Coming to the release date, the leaker reaffirms that the previous rumors of the Navi 31-based GPUs launching in November are indeed true. This will be around two months after RTX 4090, so we will have to wait and see if AMD can outperform NVIDIA’s flagship.

Radeon RX 7900 series equipped with a 384-bit memory bus and 20Gbps memory would enable maximum memory bandwidth of 960 GB/s. Note that this bandwidth does not account for Infinity Cache.

Additionally, we might get to see 24 Gbps memory in the RX 7x50XT series, which will be released next year or afterwards.

AMD’s RDNA3 Architecture and the Next-Gen NAVI 31 GPU

AMD’s RDNA3 architecture will be coming this year with Radeon 7000 GPUs. It is expected to deliver over 50% improved performance per watt compared to the RDNA2.

The RDNA3 GPUs will probably be the first-ever to use a PCIe 5.0 interface, which can feature over twice the bandwidth as its predecessor, PCIe 4.0.

The NAVI 31 will be AMD’s flagship Radeon 7000 GPU. The card has a 384-bit memory bus and most likely a total of 192 MB of Infinity Cache or 384MB if AMD were to use V-Cache on top of each MCD.

On a separate note, RedGamingTech posted a video showcasing the initial lineup specs for Radeon RX 7000 GPUs, including RX 341279, RX 7800, RX 341258, and RX 7600 series. However, considering that the RX 7700-7600 are launching later, the specs of those GPUs might not be finalized yet.

Many specifications on this chart are still marked uncertain, so we will have to wait a little more to get precise information.

AMD surprised everyone with its Radeon 6000 series when it outperformed NVIDIA’s RTX 30 series. So this time, there will again be a tough battle between Team Red and Team Green towards the end of this year.
