AMD Radeon 780M Integrated Graphics Tested in TimeSpy 3DMark Benchmark

AMD is still working on the final driver for integrated RDNA3 graphics which is a couple of weeks away from launch. However, a few performance results were posted on Bilibili prior to the release.

Chinese tech outlet “Golden Pig Upgrade” shared initial performance figures of AMD integrated RDNA3 GPU featuring AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS “Phoenix” processor.

AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS features the latest Zen4 architecture with an 8-core CPU and RDNA3 graphics. Other than TimeSpy’s built-in CPU score (3146 points), there is no benchmark for its graphics performance.

Two results were posted, both tested on the same platform with DDR5-5600 memory. The first with a power limit of 54W:

The second one had power uncapped to 25W:

As seen above, even after significantly decreasing power, there isn’t that much of a difference in the performance.

AMD integrated RDNA3 GPU called Radeon 780M features 12 CUs which can clock up to 3.0 GHz. However, it seems like the GPU was boosted up to 2.8 GHz. Hence, the processor scored 2486 points in 3DMark TimeSpy at 25W, and 2791 at 54W.

In comparison, the AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS processor is 8%-22% faster than the Radeon 680M with RDNA2 iGPU depending on configuration. AMD has not announced the launch date for Ryzen 7000 APUs but the Phoenix laptops are expected to arrive in the market in March.
