AMD Ryzen Threadripper 8000 Codenamed “Shimada Peak” Launching in 2025

Even though the Ryzen Threadripper 7000 isn’t out yet, AMD has already started planning for the future as news about Ryzen Threadripper 8000 has already begun to spread on social media platforms.

According to a report from DigiTimes, AMD Ryzen Threadripper 8000, based on Zen5 architecture, is codenamed “Shimada Peak” and will launch as early as 2025. These chips will replace the “Storm Peak” chips featured within the Threadripper 7000, which will launch later this year.

The roadmap was put together by user @harukaze5719 on Twitter. AMD will most likely retain the same socket design as the Threadripper 7000 for the Threadripper 8000. Performance will be much better as the chips will be based on Zen5 architecture.

You might notice a gap in the HEDT section for next year, which is filled with Zen5 products for desktops and mobiles. Based on past trends, AMD has a tendency to postpone its HEDT platform until after the EPYC series is released. So, HEDT “Storm Peak” will most likely not launch until the second half of this year.

The core configuration of the chip could depend on EPYC Zen5 “Turin” which is also slated to release the same year as the Threadripper 8000. So far, the Threadripper 8000 hasn’t been officially announced, and considering it’s coming in 2025, it’s going to be a while before it is reveled. Also, since this is a rumor, please take it with a grain of salt.
