Message From Loki Decoded in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

While Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s main story focuses on Eivor and the Raven Clan trying to establish a stronghold in England, there is another sub-plot as well. This would be of Odin and the rest of the Norse pantheon as they try and push the onset of Ragnarok. Now, with Ubisoft’s E3 presentation, we know that Havi’s journey will continue, and some fans have also decoded a message written in the ancient Isu language.

Ubisoft has already pledged to support Valhalla for a good while and has gone so far as to say that it will have the most support compared to other games in the franchise. We got a peek at the Year 2 support during last week’s Ubisoft Forward. The Siege of Paris expansion will take players to the land of Francia and offer players a new storyline, weapons, abilities, and enemies. A new Discovery Tour mode will also give players the chance to explore England as it existed during the period in which the game is set.

We will also see a return of Black Box infiltration missions, giving players complete freedom for tackling the objectives. The showcase ended with a glimpse and tease of a stone gate covered in Isu marking and surrounded by molten lava, hinting that players will now be able to travel to another one of the Nine Realms, Muspelheim.

We don’t have much information regarding this gate as it was shown at the end of the trailer, but fans, doing what they do best, have managed to decode the message written on the stone. The runes, it turns out, are a secret and grave message for Odin from Loki.

Access the Animus, the community who figured out what the message was, has released a 14-minute long video on the process, which enabled them to decode the runes. Very complex and impressive, the community-made use of references from the game, promotional material, and even ran the audio at the end of the trailer through a spectrum analyzer.

The final message reads,

“Mad One, what have you done?”

Followers on Twitter were quick to shower praise onto the community for their hard work. Ubisoft too commented on the find, saying, “Not us having a contingency plan for if this wasn’t deciphered in the next month. Your excellent work keeps us humble.”

Eivor has been able to travel to the realms of Asgard and Jotunheim through the use of a special potion that allowed him to see through the eyes of Odin. We expect this to be how we travel to Muspelheim, but we’ll have to wait and see what the new realm has in store.
