Assassin’s Creed Mirage Gameplay and Release Date Officially Revealed

Yesterday’s PlayStation showcase had some fantastic announcements and reveals, but one game that nobody expected would be there at the showcase was Assassin’s Creed Mirage. But it was a pleasant surprise, and Ubisoft also confirmed the release date that was previously leaked by Amazon Japan.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will take the series back to its roots, with a heavy focus on parkour and stealth, just like the older Assassin’s Creed titles. The game will put players in the shoes of Basim Ibn Shaq (previously introduced in Valhalla), and it takes place in Baghdad, 20 years before Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Ubisoft officially revealed Assassin’s Creed Mirage gameplay in yesterday’s PlayStation showcase and also confirmed that the game will be released on October 12. The game will utilize Unity’s parkour system while adding new mechanics like the ‘Pole Vault’ and ‘Assassin’s Focus’.

Graphically, Assassin’s Creed Mirage looks like an improvement over its predecessors, with rich and lively environments, densely populated streets, and a gorgeously crafted open world that will be exciting to explore when players get their hands on the game this October. The setting is very reminiscent of the early games in the series.

Ubisoft seeks to revitalize the Assassin’s Creed franchise with Mirage after a disappointing fiscal year. The company also said in a recent earnings report that they plan to extend the development time of future Assassin’s Creed games by up to 40% over the next 12 months. It’s evident that Ubisoft is determined to bring this franchise back to its peak.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage isn’t the only game planned for release in the future, as multiple entries in the series are being developed, like Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe (set in 16th-century Europe) and Assassin’s Creed Codename Red (set in feudal Japan), among others. Not only is the future of Assassin’s Creed bright, but the future of gaming as a whole is bright as well.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage officially launches on October 12 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

About Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is an action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux and published by Ubisoft. The game is the thirteenth primary installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. While its historical timeframe precedes that of Valhalla, its modern-day framing story succeeds Valhalla’s own.

Set in 9th-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age—in particular during the Anarchy at Samarra—the story follows Basim Ibn Ishaq (a character first introduced in Valhalla), a street thief who joins the Hidden Ones to fight for peace and liberty against the Order of the Ancients,[b] who desire peace through control. The main narrative focuses on Basim’s internal struggle between his duties as a Hidden One and his desire to uncover his mysterious past.
