Assassin’s Creed Mirage undergoes delay in production, will launch later

The next installment to the Assassin’s Creed franchise, “Mirage,” has been designed as a blast from the past, bringing back the old parkour and stealth elements into the game. This takes the game mechanics back to the pre-AC: Origins era.

Mirage is set to be a small-scale spin-off. The game was first announced at the Ubisoft Forward event in September 2022. The game will have a minor storyline.

As per a new tweet from Codex, an Assassin’s Creed Fan site, it has been reported that Mirage has undergone changes in production and will be launching later than expected, as per French Gaming magazine Jeux Video.

The game, Mirage, will follow Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Basim’s story through 9th century Baghdad. With very little told to us by Ubisoft, gamers are more or less in the dark about the games content and rely heavily on leaks for news and updates.

The main storyline for Mirage is set to be 15-20 hours long. This is a massive change from the previous three epic titles of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, which took hundreds of hours to complete.

This wasn’t very pleasant for most franchise fans who loved the storyline and lore of the main protagonists like Ezio Auditore De La Firenze. It was a common complaint that they got bored of the long storylines.

There were also reports of a change in title to Assassin’s Creed codename Infinity, as per the same gaming magazine. It was changed from Assassin’s Creed Red to Basim’s Solo Outing.

As with Mirage, the details regarding Infinity are scarce as well, and it has been revealed that the platform will serve as a launcher for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed titles.

The biggest fear on Twitter by fans is that the delay is possibly due to executive issues rather than polishing out the game to make sure it’s a proper finished product.

Some fans even mentioned that they would be okay with the delay if the developers who make the beloved games had a comfortable work life.

Many optimistic fans even said they hope Ubisoft is looking to expand the game’s horizons because of the delay. It remains to be seen if there’s any element of truth in these rumors. Fans of the franchise will have to wait to see if the upcoming title can live up to the legacy of its predecessors.

About Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is an action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux and published by Ubisoft. The game is the thirteenth primary installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. While its historical timeframe precedes that of Valhalla, its modern-day framing story succeeds Valhalla’s own.

Set in 9th-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age—in particular during the Anarchy at Samarra—the story follows Basim Ibn Ishaq (a character first introduced in Valhalla), a street thief who joins the Hidden Ones to fight for peace and liberty against the Order of the Ancients,[b] who desire peace through control. The main narrative focuses on Basim’s internal struggle between his duties as a Hidden One and his desire to uncover his mysterious past.
