Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Update 1.5.3 released, focused on bug fixes

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the latest game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The Ubisoft game was released in 2020 and is based on the Viking period during 872-878 AD. The game is set in England and parts of Norway. The game had mostly favourable reviews although its latest expansion, “Dawn of Ragnarok” had a few bugs lingering in the game as it was recently released.

After completing the main storyline in the vanilla game, Eivor’s journey ends and players start a new journey in the past with Odin in Dawn of Ragnarok. Dawn of Ragnarok is the third DLC for the game and was released on March 10th and gives players around 35 hours of gameplay.

A new update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is rolling out on 28th June which fixes a lot of bugs present in Dawn of Ragnarok. The 1.5.3 update is mostly focused on bug and UI fixes although it also gives players a free Bifrost Bundle. You can find the full patch notes here

Quest, Valkyrie Arena and Mastery Challenge

Many of the bug fixes are related to the progression as players couldn’t get past some quests like Gift to the God and The Vault of the Ancients or world events such as Not Today. These fixes should now allow frustrated players to play past these quests.

There are also a few fixes for the Valkyrie Arena including a fix for players getting stuck underground and finisher animations not working properly.

Mastery challenge also had its own share of issues which have been addressed like the long loading times before and after a challenge, and not having enough currency to purchase all the sets from Hildiran’s Wares

World, Graphics and UI fixes

As for the world of Valhalla, Various incorrect AI behaviours have been fixed. Instances of grass and/or foliage disappearing as players approach have been fixed. An issue with Loadouts not being available in Mythical Worlds is fixed as well. Graphics, texture, lighting and animation will also be fixed and improved.

A relatively funny issue which makes Eivor go into a T-pose when dropping down from the Easter viewpoint in Cent is fixed as well. An issue with Silver and XP boost buff not appearing above the adrenaline bar after initiating a feast has been addressed.

A bug encountered specifically in Xbox Series X/S which resulted in players stuck with a black screen after changing the graphics mode settings has been fixed to provide relief to some Xbox users.

Bifrost Bundle

The Shimmering Shield and Iridescent Axe were chiselled from the same crystal used to build the Bifröst, Asgard’s rainbow bridge.

The Shield and the Axe will be available in the Animus Store for free from June 28 to July 26.

The patch size of the update is considerable for Xbox and PC users being around 7.17 – 8.8 GB depending on the platform. On the other hand, PlayStation users face a much lower update size as the update is 1.4 GB for PS4 users and 1.2 GB for PS5.

With a new Assassin’s Creed-related announcement planned in September where Ubisoft could announce a possible new DLC for Valhalla, or the rumoured new addition to the franchise, the update provides just enough content for players to carry on playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla till a new announcement arrives.
