Oskoreia Festival Content for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Revealed

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is easily Ubisoft’s biggest franchise, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been the torchbearer for the series over the past year. The game will be getting a new free, limited-time update titled the Oskoreia Festival, or the Wild Hunt Festival, along with a new free game activity, both of which have been shown in a new trailer.

Fans have eagerly awaited the Oskoreia Festival update since dataminers found evidence for it in September this year. The Wild Hunt itself is a folklore motif that is present in various northern European cultures.

The trailer goes into the mythology a bit, informing viewers that the gods are coming to Midgard to hunt. Their prey is both beasts and men, very much like the Wild Hunt described in folklore. This Festival will be a chance for Eivor and company to prove they are not easy quarry by taking on waves of veiled enemies, martial skill challenges, and new intimidating bone-covered outfits. The event has been very heavily talked about on the new Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s latest roadmap, and the studio seems to have put a lot of work into it.

The Festival is a time-limited event and will be available only between November 11th to December 2nd, described as the period when the barrier between the living and the dead is the thinnest. Eivor’s goal is to find a way to honor the dead so that they don’t haunt the Vikings. It remains to be seen if these spectral enemies will be given a sci-fi backstory, much like previous Assassin’s Creed games, but the trailer also featured Eivor facing off against a werewolf. The event will also add several new activities and rewards to the game, including bone outfits for the raven and the Hel’s Scythe weapon.

Along with the Oskoreia Festival, the update will bring the Tombs of the Fallen free game activity. The activity will require some Indiana Jones-style tasks, with Eivor completing various platforming challenges, sliding on ziplines, and exploring dark underground environments. The tombs are filled with bats, snow, and environmental facets such as a waterfall, underground lakes, and corridors full of spinning traps.

We will have to wait to see what the plot of this activity will be, but the update is shaping up to be one that fans are going to love.
