Assassin’s Creed VR Game to Welcome Old Protagonists & Leap of Faith

Excruciating silence from Ubisoft ever since it announced that a new VR Assassin’s Creed game is in the works was not doing the excited fans any favors. The virtual reality medium packs endless potential, so it’s natural for the video game company to explore it with its biggest franchise.

But owing to the scarcity of official information at the disposal of enthusiasts, eyes are turning towards credible leakers like Tom Henderson to learn more and more about the title.

This time Tom Henderson, via Exputer, reported that the next Assassin’s Creed VR game would be called Nexus. According to him, the title will house 16 missions and a tutorial to help players get accustomed to its VR controls.

On top of this, it is also being said that this VR title would bring back beloved AC protagonists like AC 2’s Ezio, AC 3’s Connor and Haytham, and AC Odyssey’s Kassandra as playable characters in different levels.

Moreover, just like the rumored Rift, even AC Nexus is said to focus on stealth gameplay instead of an open-world RPG, making it sound more like a classic Assassin’s Creed game than the shift the series took from Origins.

Therefore, be ready for a whole lot of pickpocketing, climbing, lock picking, and most importantly, our beloved T-pose fall from high points through the leap of faith – all inside the immersive realm of VR.

Players can choose to play in one of two styles, or a combination of both, which is the norm for a VR title, by using the controller analog sticks to move or teleport. As stealth is one of the more important aspects of an Assassin’s Creed game, teleportation comes with a soundbar that lets you know if you’re alerting nearby enemies. Basically, the further away you teleport towards the enemy, the less sound is made.

For example, teleporting 10 feet away from behind an enemy will create less sound than teleporting 3 feet away from them. So it’s usually ideal to teleport some distance away to avoid detection by sound, then crouch towards the enemies with your controllers.

The credible industry insider further stated that pressing a button and flicking the wrist will let players unsheath the hidden blade to eliminate foes with one hit while in stealth. But if enemies are aware of your presence, you’ll have to land a few more hits to get the combat over with.

While this all sounds jaw-droppingly spectacular, it must be kept in mind that none of this is confirmed. At the end of the day, it is just a leak that should be taken with a grain of salt; else, there’s a chance your hopes would end up getting broken.
