ASUS Develops Non-Binary Memory Support for ROG X670E Motherboard

If you’re unfamiliar with non-binary memory, here’s a quick brief. This type of memory features non-standard capacities namely 24GB, 48GB and 96GB. A couple of Intel 600 and 700 motherboard series are known to support this memory.

An interesting screenshot popped up at ROG forums, which revealed that ASUS is developing non-binary memory support for the X670E platform. The ASUS ROG STRIX X670E will have four slots to support 48GB non-binary memory, which is higher than 32GB but lower than 64GB.

The four memory modules are each labelled at 2600 MHz (5200 MT/s). Together, they offer a memory capacity of 192GB, which corresponds to the information displayed by the operating system. It is also confirmed that the system successfully boots into Windows.

The ROG STRIX X670E is a top of the class motherboard with vigorous power delivery and exclusive overclocking tools to maximize performance. It includes extensive support to unlock the furthest reaches of chipset capabilities. It truly is a masterpiece for gamers.

The flagship board by ASUS surely offers a premium appearance, overkill power delivery, PCIe 5.0 slots, efficient thermal design, and much more for its mid-range price of $499.

Hopefully, ASUS officially announces their upcoming non-binary memory support soon enough. This could open up the door to much more possibilities, such as a more flexible memory system with reduced system costs. Users won’t be forced to buy more than required memory.

According to previous rumors, AMD motherboards could not fully boot with non-binary memory installed. There were also some theories stating that AMD is working on an AGESA update which would introduce support for non-binary memory.
