The much-anticipated sequel to Baldur’s Gate 2 is expected to enter its early access phase pretty soon on October 6th. Even so, fans are pretty excited to hear any form of news that comes from the developers.

Now, we have been made aware of how the in-game character creation will be like and the characters that will be playable from day one.

For those unaware, Baldur’s Gate 3 is set almost a century after the previous entry and will follow a completely new set of rules from a new edition of Dungeons & Dragons.

So, people who haven’t been in touch with the franchise lately will have many new things to learn and explore.

Coming back to the update itself, it was revealed that humans would be a playable race in the game, and as always, they will be the most common race known for their creativity and growth prospects.

After humans, Githyanki, the bane of all mind flayers, will also be available for the players, with the race itself playing an important role in the game’s story.

Fans of the highly agile and mystical Elf races can also rest easy, as both the High Elves and the Wood Elves will be playable in-game.

The Seldarine Drow and the Lolth-Sworn Drow will also be available, with one race playing the good role and the other playing the role of evil.

Half-elves will also be there in 3 types; high half-elf, wood half-elf, and half-elf, with their exact origins depending on their ancestral percentage.

Other than that, Dwarves, Halfling, and Teifling will be available, with all their variants using names from The Forgotten Realms, rather than the player’s handbook.

Also, according to the update, “Each of these races represents a staggering amount of narrative and mechanical complexity.

In one playthrough as a human, you might be treated with respect and honor. In the next, as a Githyanki, you might have to struggle for those same courtesies with the sharpness of your tongue, or the ferocity of your fists.

What race you pick will be the foundation for your appearance and give you a bunch of cool racial features, including stat increases, skill proficiencies, and potential other bonuses. So, one can easily expect every playthrough to be a unique and captivating experience.

Regardless, Baldur’s Gate 3 is really looking to be one amazing experience that no fan of D&D should ever miss! Be sure to check out the game when it drops on October 6th!
