Battlefield 2042 and NVIDIA Partnership Alive, DLSS Support Confirmed

NVIDIA has been dubbed as Battlefield 2042’s “official graphics platform,” and the new 128-player shooter will support all “next-gen GeForce RTX gaming technologies,” NVIDIA DLSS, and NVIDIA Reflex Latency Optimization.

Battlefield 5 was the game that spawned the “RTX On” meme when it was shown during the RTX showcase. So, the repeat partnership between EA and NVIDIA isn’t exactly surprising. This partnership means that GeForce card owners will get some NVIDIA-specific feature support.

DLSS, NVIDIA’s now-famous deep learning tech used for higher resolution visuals, will be supported by Battlefield 2042.

A newer addition to the feature list is NVIDIA Reflex. Shown last year, it is a toolkit currently used by Valorant, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and other multiplayer shooters to reduce the render latency by “keeping the GPU perfectly in sync with the CPU,” eliminating the need for frames to idle in the render queue.

Basically, when you move your mouse, the new image generated should be visible a few milliseconds before it usually would.

The feature also boasts latency measuring capabilities, provided users have the compatible monitor and mouse. You can read more about this new tech over on NVIDIA’s site to get a more in-depth understanding of the functionality.

Given the competitiveness of every Battlefield match, even the slightest improvement in rendering capabilities can prove to be a massive advantage for the player. While Battlefield 2042 is not getting a Battle Royale mode, it will still be helpful in the other classic modes.

The support for DLSS means we can expect some stunning visuals. Given that we will be going up against not just players but also forces of nature, it will be a visual treat to dive out of a jet with lightning all around.

Battlefield 2042 is releasing on October 22nd, 2021, and will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

About Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042 is the seventeenth installment in the Battlefield series developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. The game is a first-person online multiplayer shooting title. This installment of Battlefield will not feature a single-player campaign mode.

The year is 2042 and the world is in ruins. Natural disasters run rampant, ocean levels have risen, the world economy has collapsed, and the US and Russia are at war. You step into the shoes of a non-patriated soldier – a soldier without a side. The games’ story will be revealed through episodic additions, allowing players to create a future for themselves and other non-pats in a world on the brink of destruction.
