Forza Horizon 5: Best Steering Wheels for a Realistic Driving Experience

Forza Horizon 5, launched earlier this month, is an absolutely stunning game with amazing graphics and realistic car physics/ features. The game dropped exclusively for Xbox and PC, but that doesn’t mean you only have to use a controller or the keyboard to play it the old boring way.

Instead, pick up a steering wheel setup to add to the immersion and feel the first-hand thrill of driving some of the fastest cars ever. Here are the best Forza Horizon 5 supported steering wheels you should gift yourself this Christmas.

Best Steering Wheels to Play Forza Horizon 5

Thrustmaster T300 RS, Logitech G920, and Thrustmaster TS-XW are the best steering wheels supported by Forza Horizon 5. FH5 supports most of the wheels from Logitech, Thrustmaster, and Fanatec, as well as the same ones supported by Forza Horizon 4.

Note:  Make sure to install the latest drivers and firmware for your steering wheel.

I. Thrustmaster T300 RS

Thrustmaster T300 RS

Thrustmaster T300 RS comes with a realistic 11 inches/28 cms brushed metal wheel with rubber grips on all sides, which will provide you a steady grip and won’t feel uncomfortable in your hands for hours. The detachable wheel has 13 action buttons + 1 D-Pad. It has a 1,080 degrees rotation range and will never feel clunky. It comes along with Hall Effect sensors for precision and two paddle shifters to drive in the right gear.

Unfortunately, this steering wheel is a PC and Playstation only device and cannot be used with an Xbox. Thrustmaster T300 RS is available on Amazon for a mid-range price of $544.00 and has a rating of 4.5/5.0 with over 1.9K reviews.

II. Logitech G920

Logitech G920

Logitech G920 is a 10.94 inches steering wheel with a leather cover grip and a 900-degree lock-to-lock rotation range, meaning that users can rotate it 2.5 times. It moves like an actual steering wheel in a car, which adds to the realism. The steering comes with high-end build quality, three medal pedals, and an optional stick shifter.

Logitech has further added a Trueforce feature, which does the same job as a controller’s vibrating motor. Users can feel the engine vibrating and in-game movements through the steering columns with Trueforce in supported games. The wheel is compatible with Xbox, PC, and Mac devices.

I agree that the newer model of G923 is comparatively better, but G920 provides a lot for a lower price of $349.00 at Amazon. It has a rating of 4.6/5.0 with 10K+ reviews.

If you are willing to spend a little more, go for Logitech G923, available for a price of $399.33.

III. Thrustmaster TS-XW

Here’s a flashy one for those of you who can and are willing to throw some extra dollars to get the premium driving experience right inside your rooms.

Thrustmaster TS-XW is modeled after a real-life wheel, has an exceptional build quality with attention to details, and overall feels extremely premium. The wheel employs Force Feedback via a powerful 40-watt brushless servomotor with a Motor Cooling Embedded cooling system for constant performance even with intensive use during the longest competitions.

It comes along with a solid and adjustable pedal set with 100% metal pedals. It is also officially licensed for both Xbox and Windows. You can buy this beast for a jaw-dropping but deserved $1,199.00 from Amazon.

Forza Horizon 5 and Multi-USB Support

Forza Horizon supports Multi-USB. In some instances, players using multiple devices with separate USB ports may not be automatically recognized by the game, or it may only recognize one. For example, your wheel may work, but your pedals may not.

The solution is to create a custom wheel profile within the game if you use multiple devices or have multiple devices plugged into separate USB ports. The game won’t automatically map them unless they are directly connected.

The Forza support team also recommends that players don’t use USB switches. Instead, use dedicated USB 3.0 ports on their PC. “Avoid unplugging and plugging back in your wheel to USB 3.0 ports. Some wheels have been known to generate an erroneous VIDPID (Vendor ID, Product ID for USB) when this happens. For your wheel to work properly with the game, it must have the correct VIDPID associated with it.”
