Pride month is coming. Color themes are changing to embrace diversity and celebrate love on all fronts. Overwatch 2 devs have ensured they give back the love they get from the fans.
Developers Blizzard has announced a month-long Pride event for Overwatch 2 with multiple cosmetics to celebrate the diverse cast of heroes in the game. Every player logging in will get a collection of Player icons and Name cards, some featuring Tracer and Soldier 76. Another bonus is the story unveiling the previously hinted sexual orientation of Baptiste alongside Pharah.

Jen Stacey will author the story and primarily focus on Baptiste and Pharah’s sexuality. Titled “As You Are,” it opens with Baptiste Pharah and Cassidy in a plane flying back from a mission in Seoul.
The icons will also feature all the LGBTQIA+ flags representing the true spirit of pride. A lesbian card is available for Tracer, a gay card for Soldier 76, a pansexual card for Lifeweaver, a bisexual card for Baptiste, and a lesbian card for Pharah.
Not only the name cards but also specific cosmetic changes will be coming to the game map. A new spray featuring Tracer and her partner Emily will be available for Tracer mains to equip.
The picture is also available via an update Watchpoint: Gibraltar, available during Pride Month. The changes also mean Midtown occurs shortly after a Pride parade in the Overwatch world.
Players must remember that no changes other than visuals are being made to the maps. In addition to in-game changes, the Blizzard gear store will have Pride Themed apparel curated by the LGBT+ Employee network.
The players would have cool merch to show for while contributing to a cause as the net proceeds from the sales from May 16th to June 30th go to National Center for Transgender Equality.
The developers addressed the “why now” question by saying they wanted to explore each of the beloved characters’ identities. With the first Pride Event for Overwatch 2, they wanted to celebrate the diversity that would “make the world” worth fighting for.

Overwatch 2 is an upcoming first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. The sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the game is intended to have a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes with the first game while introducing persistent cooperative modes. A major change in PvP was to reduce team sizes from six to five, which required several characters to be reworked.
Overwatch 2 is set to launch as free-to-play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in early access on October 4, 2022. It will feature full cross-platform play.
