Blizzard has announced the dates for Overwatch 2’s Double XP Weekends. The game has amassed over a whopping 25 million players and Blizzard plans to reward them. Even though the game had faced major setbacks during launch, it’s in a much better state now.

Blizzard confirmed that the Double XP Weekends will run over three weekends. The first weekend runs from October 21 through 24, the second from October 28 through 31 and the third one from November 24 through 28. All weekends will start and end at 2:00 pm ET on the given dates.

In a press release by Blizzard, the company stated that the Double XP weekends are going to be held as a reward for players who have suffered during Overwatch 2’s challenging launch.

Blizzard is still on the process of ironing out bugs and errors, but the game has faced a successful launch in terms of player count. With the game being launched a little over a week ago, Blizzard has already addressed major issues and is trying to stabilize the game into a bug-free experience.

After suffering massive DDoS attacks, facing server issues and game breaking bugs, permanently stuck in Bronze 5 tier, Blizzard is finally on its way to make things right. Having the Double XP Weekends will not only incentivize the players to play the game more but also attract new players to the game.

While it is known that the Double XP Weekends won’t solve players’ frustration with the matchmaking and server issues, it will atleast provide them with a fun and enjoyable experience for the weekend.

About Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 is an upcoming first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. The sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the game is intended to have a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes with the first game while introducing persistent cooperative modes. A major change in PvP was to reduce team sizes from six to five, which required several characters to be reworked.

Overwatch 2 is set to launch as free-to-play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in early access on October 4, 2022. It will feature full cross-platform play.
