Blizzard Temporarily Removes Bastion and Torbjörn From Overwatch 2 Due to Bugs

Since the disappointing launch of Overwatch 2, Blizzard has been on the process of ironing out bugs and is still working on updates to fix various issues present within the game. The latest latest update led to the removal of Bastion as well as Torbjörn from the game.

Blizzard has temporarily removed Bastion and Torbjörn from Overwatch 2 temporarily. While Bastion has been removed from all modes, Torbjörn can still be used in Quick Play only. The reason for their removal has to do with a bug present in both of the heroes’ ability kits.

Bastion’s bug made his ultimate incredibly overpowered, and, if timed right, allowed players to fire as many additional shells as they wanted for several seconds which helped players score a ton of kills. This exploit can be considered as cheating since it’s an unfair way to get more kills. This game-breaking bug led to his removal from the game, much to the players’ relief. Footage of the bug can be found here.

When it comes to Torbjörn, a new bug makes his Overload ability pretty powerful, with the ability having double duration if the button press is timed right, which means that he would be able to receive more damage, run faster as well as deal more damage for a lot longer than normal. Even though Torbjörn has been removed from every mode, he is still playable in Quick Play.

While Bastion and Torbjörn have been removed from the game temporarily, it is unclear when they’ll be back in the game. Shortly after both of the heroes were taken offline, Blizzard reported that they experienced another DDoS attack, causing high latency issues and frequent disconnects during matchmaking.

Overwatch 2 has been riddled with bugs since launch and it seems like the game won’t return to its normal state anytime soon. It’s been a bad day for Overwatch 2 players and Blizzard alike.

Live-service games launching with bugs has been a normal thing for a while now but Overwatch 2 takes it one step further with matchmaking issues, lighting issues, players stuck on a specific tier, players unable to log in and players being required to put in their phone numbers during the login process, to mention a few. Hopefully in the coming days, Blizzard will iron out every major bug and make the game return to a proper and playable state.

The sequel to the 2016 hero shooter Overwatch, the game is intended to have a shared environment for player-versus-player (PvP) modes with the first game while introducing persistent cooperative modes. A major change in PvP was to reduce team sizes from six to five, which required several characters to be reworked.
