Bungie Addresses Recent Destiny 2 Leaks & Effects on Community Summits

Leaks are nothing new when it comes to popular shooters like Destiny 2. But the most recent leaks about the game’s upcoming season have forced Bungie to reconsider how it interacts with its community from now on. Leaks about the upcoming season have already started making rounds on social media.

Leaks say that the game’s upcoming season is named Season of the Deep, which may give players a hint about what they may see after the conclusion of Season of Defiance. The source of these leaks, though, has forced Bungie to reconsider how and if the community summits will be held from now on.

Destiny 2’s first community summit was held way back in 2018, inviting various content creators from the community and taking feedback from them on ways to improve the game. Since then, the community summits have become a norm and it’s held at least once a year to discuss upcoming Destiny 2 plans.

Bungie has now warned that it may need to reevaluate these community summits if leaks like the recent one keep coming. The leaks were addressed through the game’s official Twitter, stating the confidential nature of these summits held with content creators.

The studio has stated that it plans to review and reevaluate some of the policies regarding these summits, but further “breaches of trust” may force Bungie to stop holding these community summits altogether. A number of notable community members supported Bungie’s stance on the alleged breach of trust as they do not wish to see these community summits come to an end.

False leaks, as well as accurate leaks, have been a constant for Destiny 2 and it was a regular thing especially during the lead-up to Lightfall’s release as alleged leaks were popping up on social media almost every day. Although, most of the accurate leaks made their way on social media by accident. But it’s good to see that Bungie is finally taking action acknowledging these leaks and considering ways to tackle them.
