Bungie disables a popular Exotic Warlock across all Destiny 2 raids

The Root of Nightmares raid recently launched for Destiny 2, challenges players after completing the Lightfall legendary campaign.

Bungie, in this regard, announced that the popular Necrotic Grip set of the Warlock Exotic gauntlets had been temporarily disabled in all Destiny 2 raids, including the Root of Nightmares raid. This is because an issue with the high-level content gives an unfair advantage to the players.

This comes in response to the fact that the Necrotic Grip’s “Grasp of Devourer” found itself overpowered when combined with the perks found on the “Edge of Intent” and “Vexcalibur Exotic” Glaives.

What happens is that the “Edge of the Intent” glaive generates every single instance of damage inflicted by poison from the Necrotic Grip. This allows players to spam Restorative Turrets constantly.

With the “Vexcalibur”, causing poison damage along with the Necrotic Grip constantly refreshes Void overshields for the player with every tick of damage.

This has been one of the few problems with the game since its release. The refreshment of the Void overshield and Restorative Turrets removes any danger whatsoever since the player is continually healed.

Thus, it makes sense why the developers Bungie were quick to disable the Exotic before the Root of Nightmares raid went live. This was met with much debate in the gaming community.

However, the move was made to make sure that the game retains its difficulty and doesn’t become a mere one-sided affair, staying in touch with Bungie’s vision of a higher difficulty level in the Lightfall expansion pack.

Despite this, players can continue to use Necrotic grips in Destiny 2’s strikes, dungeons, and seasonal content. More details are being awaited by the developers, and it can be hoped that the proactive developers will fix the issue soon.
