Bungie Has Taken Its Old Halo Site Offline

Bungie announced that its Halo site will be taken offline permanently. The site will be taken down in the next month.

Bungie Inc. is a video game studio that is known for so many other games than just Halo. It is no secret that the studio shed the image of being known as the ‘Halo company.’

It has established itself as a competent and robust player among other video game studios after breaking away from Microsoft. The following month, Bungie will cut the last remaining ties with its old flagship franchise, Halo.

Bungie announced on their website that the Halo site will be taken offline on February 9, 2021.

In the year’s first This Week At Bungie post, community manager Dylan Gafner took a moment to announce that the Halo site, which acted as an archive of stats, screenshots, and custom game types, will be taken offline on February 9, 2021. While the site had not been updated for more than nine years, it served as a monument to thousands of community stats and creations from Halo 2 till Halo: Reach.

“On February 9, the halo.bungie.net website will be taken offline permanently. Everyone is welcome to save their stats and files, however they can, if they’d like to save anything. Please keep in mind that our News articles, Forums, and Groups were imported into the current version of Bungie.net back in 2013.”

After Halo: Reach, Bungie handed the franchise’s reigns to new studio 343 Industries, who did a great job bringing the original trilogy to PC with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. However, they ignored the earlier community content except for a one-time transfer of legacy maps and games.

Bungie has given the gamers some time to archive what they desire before the site goes offline. Apart from Halo, the site contained hubs for other Bungie titles like Marathon, Myth, and the studio’s indie publishing wing Bungie Aerospace. The old site offered a glimpse into Bungie’s past before Destiny.
