Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Adds Classic Mini-Map in Gun Game

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 introduced a lot of new features to existing game modes. While some were appreciated, fans also felt that some of the familiar elements would have fit better. Such is the case with the classic mini-map in the Gun Game mode.

Fans are asking Infinity Ward to standardize the mini-map featured in Gun Game in Modern Warfare 2 where red dots appear whenever an enemy fires a weapon. However, the developer stated that it doesn’t want players to be at a disadvantage for using their arms.

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, enemies are invincible on the map unless a UAV is active, which is when red dots appear when a weapon is fired. So, this makes it difficult for players to estimate where exactly their opponents are located.

Gun Game is a bit different from your usual 6v6 match in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Hence, bringing back the classic mini-map makes sense.

In a match of Gun Game, players have to eliminate their enemies with a series of guns in order. The aim of this mode is to become the fastest player to go through all the available weapons.

Gun Game has been a classic in several Call of Duty games. It was only recently added to Modern Warfare 2, along with other fan-favorite modes such as Infected and Grind. Activision also drafted an exclusive playlist for Infected last week. Similarly, Gun Game and Grind are also getting their own playlists in Modern Warfare 2.

Season 2 also added a few new maps, but the base 6v6 maps were familiar for players since Dome is based on an older map while Valderas Museum was a part of the game during beta testing. It doesn’t look like the classic mini-map from Gun Game will be enforced to the rest of the maps.

Infinity Ward has confirmed that Drop Zone, All or Nothing, and One in the Chamber will be introduced in Modern Warfare 2 by the middle of Season 2. This gives players a variety of modes to cycle through while they wait for a new season.
