Problems Arise with Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Double XP Weekend

With the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard, players have been flocking to the online mode to get in some classic PvP games going. As with all the previous titles, players earn XP from matches that can unlock various guns, attachments, and other features.

The game had announced that this weekend would be the first double XP weekend, but many players reported running into various problems that stopped them from making the most of the opportunity.

In a mysterious turn of events, players reported that they were not receiving double weapon XP this weekend as was promised by the developers. Some even claimed to receive less XP than usual on occasions. Even the thought of the double XP weekend being bugged is leading players to think of it as a significant issue.

There are a few theories behind why this occurred, but they are all scattered, and none of them have any concrete evidence to back up the claims.

Some feel that Call of Duty: Vanguard cannot track weapon experience accurately when players have a high-kill game. This would mean that the issue is with the vocal minority of the hardcore gamers complaining about something the majority hasn’t even noticed.

Another, and far more nefarious theory, is that Call of Duty is capping weapon experience gained during the weekend through unclear means. This would mean players would not get the specific amount of weapon XP per elimination as is intended and expected.

This theory seems to be borne more out of frustration than fact, as there is no reason why the developers would go down this route. Past trends show that Call of Duty has encouraged fast leveling, especially during double XP weekends.

The most likely cause is a change in the Call of Duty: Vanguard XP system compared to the previous games that are causing the technical issue in the game. It would be wholly unintentional and easy to fix.

The lack of public statements from both Activision and Sledgehammer Games is fuelling the wild speculation. We’re hoping they fix this issue soon so that the next double XP weekend can go by without a hitch.

About Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard

Call of Duty: Vanguard is an upcoming first-person shooter by Sledgehammer Games. The game will likely throw players into all the action in World War II, much like 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII. Currently, the game has no confirmed release date.
