Find Out the Specifications Your Laptop Needs to Run Rocket League

Rocket League is undoubtedly a fun-to-play arcade-style vehicular-soccer hybrid videogame. Launched in 2015, it is still among the most popular games worldwide. Due to its quick-paced gameplay and competitive nature, it is essential to run the game at a minimum 60 FPS on ultra-quality. Anything below that can feel laggy and annoying.

Now, PCs can be easily upgraded to run a game flawlessly in the best quality. You just replace the older GPU with the latest one, but what about laptops? They can’t be upgraded — unless you plan to buy a whole new device! So, is your current laptop capable enough to run Rocket League at a decent FPS? Check out the system requirements here-

Fortunately, as Rocket League is a somewhat older and less graphics-intensive game, its system requirements are pretty low. These low requirements mean that most of the laptops with dedicated graphics cards should be able to run the game at a decent FPS, but where do we draw the line?

What GPU does a laptop need to run Rocket League?

You need a 2GB NVIDIA GTX 670MX/AMD Radeon HD 7850 dedicated GPU to run Rocket League smoothly at 80-100 FPS on a laptop.

I. NVIDIA GTX 670MX

Nvidia GTX 670MX

NVIDIA GTX 670MX was launched in 2012 and still holds up as a great budget GPU. When paired with Intel Core i7-8700K, it can offer a stable 100+ FPS in Rocket League at ultra quality in 1080p resolution. If you lower the quality to “High,” it can push up to 150+ FPS.

Unfortunately, if you wish to play at 4K resolution with GTX 670MX, you have to switch to medium-quality graphics to play at a stable 60 FPS.

If you still wish to play at ~100 FPS in 4K, you have to switch to a laptop with an NVIDIA RTX 2060.

Note: Intel core i5 8th Gen and AMD Ryzen 5 3rd Gen processors are also good enough for similar FPS.

II. AMD Radeon HD 7850

Radeon HD 7850 is the AMD equivalent of GTX 670 MX for the Rocket League. It was also launched in 2012 but is way more affordable than its NVIDIA counterpart. It offers a stable 100+ FPS in Rocket League at the ultra-quality in 1080p resolution when paired alongside Intel Core i7-8700K.

If you do not have such a powerful processor, lower the game’s graphics quality slightly to maintain 100 FPS. For 100 FPS in 4K resolution, try Radeon RX 5700M.

Looking at the stats mentioned-above, it can be said that any dedicated graphics card released after 2012 can surely run Rocket League smoothly in 1080p resolution on a laptop.

Intel integrated graphics are not recommended to run Rocket League, but AMD Radeon Vega 8 and above integrated graphics may be able to provide ~60 FPS on low graphic settings.

While AMD integrated graphics can sometimes manage up to 60 FPS in the Rocket League, sadly, their Intel counterparts fail to reach even half of that score.

When running the game with AMD integrated graphics, make sure you have a powerful processor and at least 8 GB of RAM in your laptop. If you use your RAM in dual-channel mode, you will be able to squeeze 8-10 more FPS. Every single FPS counts!
