The Witcher 3’s Next-gen Upgrade Will Be out by the End of This Year

Fortune has been smiling on the fans of The Witcher series for the past few months. In March, CDPR created huge waves in the community by confirming the development of a new witcher game.

The Witcher series, throughout its life cycle, has delivered an experience that’s nothing short of sensational. Therefore, the news of it embracing a new, mysterious saga caused a stir in the fandom.

You’d think that CDPR would stop here and focus on its new IP. But as it happens, the developers are not out of steam yet as The Witcher 3’s long-overdue next-gen upgrade has received its release window once again.

Taking to Twitter, CDPR announced that the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will roll out in Q4 2022. Unfortunately, no specific release date has been assigned to this next-gen upgrade yet.

Following the arrival of this news, many fans heaved a sigh of relief. The upgrade was first announced in 2020 and was expected to release in late 2021.

But owing to the avalanche of bad press that Cyberpunk 2077 brought, CDPR turned its attention to rebuilding the Night City, promising to release the Witcher 3’s next-gen version in Q2 2022

But even this time, things didn’t go according to the plan as the enhanced version was delayed indefinitely. Naturally, this agitated fans, and as a result, CDPR assured them that the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 was not in “development hell.”

Now that Q4 2022 is a release window that CDPR has fixed for Geralt’s tweaked adventures, fans would be hoping for the company to keep its word this time around.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

For the unaware, the next-gen upgrade of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is being made for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S but will also be arriving as a free update for PC, PS4, and Xbox One users.

Slaying monsters and saving Ciri from the clutches of the notorious Wild Hunt while the game’s being graphically and technically boosted does sound impressive. If CDPR can ensure that the project faces no postponement this time around, it’ll do them a world of favor in mending a damaged relationship with fans.

About The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Developed and published by CD Projekt Red, The Witcher 3 is an action role playing game. Its plot is based on the work of renowned author Andrzej Sapowski.

The game offers a breathtaking open world gameplay  from a third person point of view.

The game takes players to a fantastical medieval world brimming with mythical beasts and creatures like Elves, Werewolves, Djinn and Golem etc.

The plot of the game revolves around Geralt of Rivia who is trusted by Emperor Emphyr to find his daughter, Ciri.

Ciri is the last inheritor to a primeval elder bloodline who has the ability to manipulate space and time.

Thus, in order to look for Ciri, Geralt goes on a quest crowded with missions and complex decision making. The best feature of The Witcher 3 is that the choices a player makes determine the outcome of the game.

The storyline presents itself with such complicated characters where one has to choose the lesser of two evils. Thus, it’s a game that doesn’t totally rely on brawn but brain too.

After finding Ciri, Geralt further helps her fight the king of the Wild Hunt, Eredin who wants to use Ciri’s power to take over the entire continent.

The ending of this game totally depends on the choices users make throughout the game. Therefore, it varies and can end either on a positive or a negative note.
