Cod Black Ops Cold War’s Multi Team Elimination Feature Disabled

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War’s Season 3 Reloaded kicked off yesterday and brought with it a whole set of new weapons, content, and modes. The new season introduced the highly anticipated Multi-Team Elimination which allows ten teams of four players to compete for survival.

The mode allows limited respawns and gives players a restricted loadout which means they must scavenge for all their armor and scorestreaks within the map. The 40-player game mode also features an exfil helicopter in the final safe zone, that gives players the chance to escape and win without fighting.

Sadly, players couldn’t get even a day’s worth of playthrough as Treyarch had to disable the mode due to a wave of “new issues”. While Treyarch promised that the mode will return soon, the studio did not specify what the issues were.

However, gamers had everyone covered on that front as they took to Reddit to detail the issues; some of them, to be honest, are major.

As highlighted by Redditor DewdsDeMIYT, the mode brought crashes on several platforms. On PS5, pulling up the map led to an instant crash, while the experience on PS4 was choppy and inundated with freezes and crashes. On PC, entire diagnostic tests are being forced, confirming that there were some major problems with the mode’s stability.

Along with the bugs, the mode has some inherent problems which have drawn heavy criticism from players. As detailed by Redditor coldmoney21 in a post that includes changes he would like to see in the mode, these issues include the lack of a pre-game lobby which forces players to look at an endless load screen as the match fills with players. Additionally, pressing the touchpad brings up the scoreboard instead of the map and no collapse indicator makes the mode unnecessarily cumbersome.

Clearly, with fixing bugs and smoothening the mode overall, Treyarch has a fair bit of work on its plate. However, the optimism in the CoD community is up and the chances for this mode being tremendously successful, once it’s fully fixed of course, are high.
