With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 set to arrive in October, the franchise is likely to offer players an opportunity to dive into the game’s multiplayer component before it launches on October 28 through a beta.
Previously, an Amazon leak claimed that a beta for this sequel FPS title would arrive in August. But now another credible leaker has given his two cents on when the pre-released version of Modern Warfare 2 could roll out.
As per RalphValves, whose claims were supported by the prominent Tom Henderson, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will get a two-week-long beta set for mid-to-late September. The insider also shared that the beta will first debut on PS4 and PS5 and then find its way to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
The insider also shared a roadmap to further back these claims, which goes as follows:
Weekend 1 (Playstation Exclusive)
Early Access: September 15th – 16th
Open Beta: September 17th – 19th
Weekend 2 (Cross-play Beta)
Early Access: September 22nd – 23rd
Open Beta: September 24th – 26th
If you weren’t able to take the Amazon game listing rumor with a pinch of salt and had really high hopes from August, then there’s still some good news for you.
While the beta has been pushed forward to September, it seems that Activision still has a lot in store for August, as the month is reportedly reserved for multiplayer reveals, events, and information dropping.
Now coming back to the beta, it is a wonderful platform for developers to get some vital feedback from fans and ensure a better gaming experience when the title is released.
But with CoD: Modern Warfare 2 set for an October 28 launch, it’s unlikely that the dev will find much time to act upon any sort of critique. Therefore, if anything, it seems like Activision is targeting a soft launch with the distribution of this pre-released title.
