CoD: Vanguard’s ‘Photo Realistic’ World Uses Modern Warfare Engine

Activision just officially revealed Call of Duty: Vanguard, its next installment in the franchise that will be taking players back to World War 2. But, even though it’s taking us back in the past, it actually has a lot in common with Modern Warfare.

We have been getting a lot of details regarding this title, and the latest piece of information states that Vanguard will be using the same engine from 2019’s Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare had used a brand new engine for their series, but Black Ops Cold War did not follow suit. Vanguard is looking to use this engine to push the boundaries of the game technologically.

According to the information we have received from the announcement, this engine will allow Vanguard to be fully optimized and deliver photo-realistic visual fidelity.

The characters will be lifelike, and the performance will also be enhanced to improve the gameplay in a significant way. Whether all of this comes to pass remains to be seen, but Sledgehammer Games is swinging for the fences, and the newest engine is their trump card.

With regards to gameplay improvements, we already have some details that have been confirmed. Vanguard will be fully integrated with Warzone at launch and come with cross-play and cross-progression.

We can expect more information on aspects such as field of view and ray tracing in the coming future. The usage of the Modern Warfare engine will make sure that the integration with Warzone is much smoother.

Given the popularity of Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Vanguard is off to a good start just by attaching itself to the engine. We’ll be getting to know more about the game in the coming weeks, but if it can use the next-gen technology to look and perform at a high level, it will bode very well for the title.
