Cyberpunk 2077 Console Sales Continue to Fall

Cyberpunk 2077 has become infamous due to its disastrous launch and that reputation has continued to have a negative effect on their console sales. Aside from being delisted from the PlayStation store, the constant reports of bugs, glitches and complete crashes has eroded what trust players had in CD Projekt Red. According to a study from NPD, Cyberpunk 2077 now isn’t selling well on consoles anymore either.

The study shows the best-selling games in January 2021 across all platforms, but there are some conditions to keep in mind.

NPD doesn’t have any data on the digital sales of Cyberpunk 2077, most Nintendo Games, and a few others on this list, so the data might be a bit skewed. However, it should be kept in mind that since the title isn’t available on the PlayStation store, half the console players can’t access the digital version.

In fact, even though it came second after Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, Cyberpunk 2077 ranked 18th on the list this month. While this isn’t a horrible spot to be in, we have to keep in mind that January 2021 is just the second month since the release of the game.

CD Projekt Red has been releasing constant updates to fix Cyberpunk 2077 to make it playable on previous generation consoles. While all the bugs haven’t been ironed out, and some new ones have been introduced, reviews from PC and next-gen console players have stated that it truly IS a fun game.

With constant price drops, you can expect to pick up Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X for much more pocket-friendly prices.

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
