Cyberpunk 2077 may Get Two Multiplayer Modes in the Future

Cyberpunk 2077 may get two new multiplayer game modes in the future. A data miner revealed the information about the new modes after going through the game’s executable files.

With all its glitches, bugs, and errors, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen success. While CD Projekt Red is trying to fix all the game problems, they are also working to bring something new. According to reports, the studio may be working on a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077. Although there is no official word from the studio about it, a data miner has leaked many details about the multiplayer mode.

According to DSOGaming, an anonymous data miner has revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will have two different multiplayer modes: Heists and Deathmatch.

An anonymous data miner accessed Cyberpunk 2077’s executable files and found evidence suggesting that the game will have a Heists mode and a Deathmatch mode. According to DSOGaming as this information is available in the game files, players can verify it for themselves.

Cyberpunk 2077: NEW MULTIPLAYER LEAK DETAILS - HEIST & DEATHMATCH MODES - All Leaked Information

Like GTA Online missions, the Heists mode would resemble a single-player quest mode requiring teamwork. The mode contains dedicated functions and editor helper descriptions such as Set Spawn Point Tag used to spawn new players amidst the missions, Spawn Tag: %s, and Set Heist State.

From what is generally understood, the Deathmatch mode would not be very different. However, the game files reveal interesting phrases like,

You sent yourself directly to hell! Please don’t come back, Wow! You killed yourself… Bravo, and Your bullet was stronger than your self-esteem.”

It implies that the deathmatch mode will not let the players off the hook easily for their in-game deaths.

DSOGaming has mentioned that the game’s executable file suggests that the multiplayer mode may rely on P2P connections rather than having dedicated servers. At this junction, it is crucial to note that while the executable file suggests all this information, it may not be the case when the multiplayer mode comes out officially.

Considering the rough patch CD Projekt Red is in right now, it is very much possible that the developer might make some significant changes to the game. Furthermore, the multiplayer mode might be standalone according to CD Projekt Red president and co-CEO, Adam Kicinski.

In November 2020, Kicinski said,

“It’s a separate dedicated production, a big production and we plan — we think about it as a standalone product. Obviously, it’s not entirely standalone as it comes from the universe of Cyberpunk and is very much related to the concept of single-player Cyberpunk we – I came up with. But from our perspective, it – is another independent production and independent team of people works on it.”

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
