Cyberpunk 2077 Receives A Highly Successful Launch!

After the highly successful launch of Cyberpunk 2077, the game has just passed over a million concurrent players on Steam alone, setting a new record for concurrent players of a single-player title.

Well, almost everyone expected Cyberpunk 2077 to have a pretty successful launch, considering the sheer scale of anticipation for the game.

But, it’s safe to say that the launch of the game has surpassed everyone’s expectations, seeing how it, in a single day, surpassed the concurrent players of a lot of PC’s most popular games.

So, in a single day, the game achieved a record-breaking 1,003,264 concurrent players on Steam alone, not counting the people playing on consoles, Epic Games Store, etcetera. Not to mention, it also has a million people checking it out through Twitch as well.

Now, of course, it is nowhere near the concurrent players achieved by games like PUBG, which had more than 3 million people playing the game on PC at the same time.

However, considering how PUBG and other games that have surpassed a million concurrent players are mostly multiplayer titles and Cyberpunk 2077 is still a single-player game, I’d say it’s still quite an impressive feat to achieve.

Even though the player base is no longer increasing, the sheer number of people playing it is a testament to how much people were waiting to experience everything that this highly-anticipated game had to offer.

One contributing factor to this kind of success could also be the continuous delays that the game faced, making the wait even more torturous for many people. That said, I think the wait was quite worthwhile, at the very least.

But let’s not finish this without addressing the elephant in the room, the number of bugs that are currently plaguing the game. Now, I know that bugs can distract the players from the game and are terrible immersion-killers, but I think we should give CDPR a little bit of time to bring a patch out to iron out many of the game’s problems.

That said, at least the game launched, right? We can at least be happy about that! Also, I think a ton of congratulations are in order for CDPR’s devs for putting in their blood and sweat to be able to put this game out in time, that too to a highly successful launch. Kudos, you madlads!

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
