Cyberpunk 2077’s Epilepsy Concerns Will Be Addressed ASAP!

Responding to the recent Public Service Announcement regarding epileptic triggers in Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red announced that they promise to address all the concerns surrounding epilepsy in the game.

The concerns surrounding the topic of epilepsy were first covered by an article in Game Informer, which explained how, due to interfacing in the game, there was a ton of red-glitching animation throughout the game, which was one of the primary factors of issuing the said PSA.

While something like this can indeed be fixed by tweaking the monitor’s settings a little, not everybody will have that kind of accessibility, right?

The author of the Game Informer post also noted how, when our character puts on the BD headset, many red and white lights flashes across the screen, which is another major contributor to causing epileptic seizures.

These lights, as she described, are incredibly similar to the ones used by neurologists to intentionally trigger a seizure, which is, simply put, quite dangerous.

At the very least, CD Projekt was quick to get back to the author, tweeting this out a mere 20 hours after the article was posted:

As you can see, they thanked the author for shedding light on the problem and stated how, firstly, they would be installing an epileptic seizure warning at the start of the game, and secondly, they will look for a permanent solution as soon as possible.

Note that the warning will be different from the one stated at the end of the User Agreement EULA.

In case you don’t know, here’s what the User Agreement states, in CDPR’s super flavorful style:

“‘Nother warning here, an’ it’s an important one, too! If you or someone you live with suffers from an epileptic condition, talk to your doctor before jackin’ into Cyberpunk 2077.”

Anyhow, it’s a good thing that CDPR is looking to address the problem as soon as possible. Not to mention, a huge kudos to Liana Ruppert from Game Informer for bringing the topic to their attention so quickly.

That said, let’s hope CDPR can fix this issue as soon as possible, seeing as how Cyberpunk 2077 is only mere hours away from its much, much-anticipated release!

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
