New Outriders Patch for Damage Mitigation Issue to Drop Tomorrow

Outriders developers People Can Fly (PCF) announced today that the game’s latest update will drop for all platforms tomorrow and if recent happenings are to be considered, this patch will fix issues related to player damage mitigation against enemy attacks.

The patch that was supposed to fix these issues was initially slated for a May 20th drop but PCF, during testing, uncovered a threat that jeopardized the overall stability of the update. This is the second time an update has gotten PCF into trouble with the first being the update that fixed the game’s inventory bug; the update brought along some severe bugs of its own. However, PCF did have one silver lining amidst this storm of complications: Outriders crossed an impressive 3.5 million players in April i.e., its first month of release.

Much like with CDPR’s Cyberpunk 2077, these lingering issues in Outriders have had an adverse impact on the game’s player count. These issues have largely shown up in endgame Expeditions, and since this leaves no other efficient way to get Legendaries, many fans have paused their playthroughs until the issues are fixed.

While the primary purpose of the patch is to fix damage mitigation issues, it will also come loaded with crash fixes and diagnostics to help determine the cause of some persistent sign-in problems that have plagued the game since launch. This should help in bringing some of those missing players back.

Even through all these issues, PCF has maintained a respectable level of transparency with fans which is something the company deserves to be lauded for.

They’ve maintained clear communication on their Twitter and Reddit pages and kept players abreast of all the details related to the fixing/patch process, the company’s intentions concerning communication with players, and more. They’ve also maintained a pretty helpful Reddit thread for all those experiencing difficulties due to the damage mitigation issue which has also contributed to the upcoming patch.

It would be ideal for PCF to deliver on this update as it would keep player confidence up and going. Additionally, now is the perfect time for an important fix to arrive as Outriders is currently at a 25% discount on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. A newly stable game with over 40 hours of story plus side quests and multiplayer AND at 25% off? Sounds like a proposition that will be hard for even new players to miss.

What’s more? PCF’s latest comments have indicated that new Outriders DLC could be enroute to players. It is not yet known whether this DLC will be a story expansion exclusively or bring new gear and other additions as well, but keeping the current Outriders experience in mind, there is no doubt that fans will want a completely smooth experience above all.
