Demon Slayer is one of the most popular animes out there. Its manga was released in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2016, and it got adapted into an anime adaptation in 2019. With well-written characters and story narratives, Demon slayer is a complete package to watch and, hopefully, to play as well.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Keppuutan was revealed in March 2020 through a trailer showing classic Tanjiro slashing an enemy. Cyberconnect2 is developing the game. The developer’s portfolio also includes Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm.
In his New Year’s Eve Special live stream, Cyberconnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama said that the company would be revealing news about the game “in the near future.” However, the other demon slayer game, Blood-Stench Blade Royal, has been delayed indefinitely.
Furthermore, Matsuyama also mentioned that “Development is going well. In fact, majority of the staff within the studio is working on Kimetsu.” The game is supposedly set for a launch later this year.

Unfortunately, there is hardly any news about what kind of action gameplay Demon Slayer will incorporate. Some speculate it to be an arena brawler, while some to be a typical cut-slash RPG. Either way, one thing is sure that the game will make perfect use of the character’s fighting style and abilities.
In recent times, games based on anime have garnered a mixed response. The two My Hero Academia titles received average critical reception, and the One Punch Man game fared worse with a mere 59 rating on Metacritic.
Only time will tell whether Demon Slayer: Hinokami Keppuutan will join these games or turn out to be a game-changer for the anime-video game adaptation titles.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge. It debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2016 with 19 collected tankōbon volumes released as of present.
In a world filled with demons and demon slayers, Kimetsu no Yaiba follows the lives of brother-sister duo Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado after – the murder of their family at the hands of a demon. Nezuko’s life is spared only for her to live as a demon.
