Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 Will Not Launch in 2021: Activision Blizzard Entertainment

Fans that were looking forward to the release dates of Blizzard games this year: you better sit down for this one. Activision, during today’s investor call said that neither Diablo 4 nor Overwatch 2 will be dropping this year. They also did not confirm any release date or period for the same.

“We expect Blizzard’s net booking to grow, given the momentum in World of Warcraft and the other growth initiatives we have in the business,”

Activision CFO Dennis Durkin said during the call,

“Our outlook does not include Diablo 4 or Overwatch 2 launching in 2021.”

However, the company did report in a press release that they had made “significant progress” on some of its other in-development titles.

Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2, the next installments in Blizzard’s wildly popular franchises, were announced last year at Blizzcon 2019, company’s annual fan event.

Though there were almost no additional details revealed, it is known that Overwatch 2 will introduce remodeled heroes and new faces. They also debuted a dramatic new cinematic with a reassembled Overwatch crew. Blizzard said, the game is expected to launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, all at the same time.

Diablo 4 has been under development for a while now, with the project having changed directions multiple times. However, for mobile gamers, there is some good news to be shared: Diablo Immortal is set to arrive for Android and iOS in 2021.

Hopefully, we will learn more about the games at BlizzConline, the all-digital version of Blizzcon that Blizzard has put together keeping Covid-19 in mind. The event will be broadcasted on February 19-20 and will be free for everyone.
