Disabling Auto Cloak In Distrust Areas: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla automatically equips your cloak whenever you enter a foreign area of distrust. The cloak hides your character’s features and is an eyesore for some. However, disabling the auto cloak in AC: Valhalla is quite cumbersome.

I have been playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla since release, and even though Ubisoft has been perfecting the RPG elements, there are some nitpicks among the game.

While Valhalla features a great hood which you can put on at will without complimentary crouching like AC: Syndicate, the cloak mechanics, on the other hand, are not so pleasing.

1. How To Disable Auto Cloak? 

Whenever Eivor enters a distrust area, the game automatically equips the cloak to be in a ‘stealth’ mode even though AC: Valhalla is a far cry from the original stealth-based assassin’s creed titles.

My character has perfected a badass Viking look with all the tattoos, and I don’t want it to be covered by an obscure cloak, which at times is not at all necessary. The auto cloak ability is quite cumbersome sometimes.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla now does not have the option to turn off the auto cloak equip feature when entering a distrust area. You need to go inside your inventory and specifically unequip the cloak. 

Ubisoft might add the ability to disable auto cloak with a future update, but for now, we are stuck with going into the inventory.

2. Equipping Cloak During Combat Assassin’s Creed Valhalla 

For some, the cloak hides the badass aesthetics; for others, it signifies a mysterious aura and they want it to stay on indefinitely. Well, Ubisoft does not allow for that too! Go figure. Whenever you enter into combat with the cloak equipped, the cloak would be automatically unequipped as long as you are in battle. 

This is probably done as programming the cloak physics during combat is not an easy feat and would require a considerable workforce, so the best solution would have been to disable it entirely in battle.

Valhalla does not allow the cloak to be equipped during combat as it would not fit well with game physics during melee combat. 

3. What About Hoods Without Cloaks In AC: Valhalla? 

While the cloaks have mixed receptions, the hoods in AC: Valhalla are quite sought after as they add to your character’s aura. There are multiple armor sets, but they all come with a cloak attached.

Ubisoft might add new clothing sets with only a hood in a future update, but for now, all the cloaks and hoods come as a packaged deal.

By playing as Eivor, gamers must represent the clan and help fellow warriors in the battle against Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms. The game brims with phenomenal main quests along with noteworthy side quests. AC Valhalla will also embrace many new features like dual-wielding of various weapons and armours.
