Gorm Choice: Kill, Banish, or You Decide? – Birthrights-AC Valhalla

Even in the first act of AC Valhalla, Eivor is thrown under the predicament of either sparing someone’s life or ending it. The decision I am talking about is of Gorm’s fate in the hands of Eivor that occurs during the Rygjafylke prologue arc of the game.

Gorm, as we know, has been a royal pain and showed quite a treacherous personality. Not only has he lied to King Harald about the Raven clan, but he has also backstabbed many people and gotten away with it. So, after being presented in the court of King Harald in the Birthrights mission, King Harald asks for your opinion in deciding Gorm’s fate. The decision is entirely yours to make, but here’s a guide to help you along the way!

Birthrights Mission in AC Valhalla

Birthrights Mission

The Birthrights mission prompts Eivor to meet Sigurd and Basim in Alrekstad and sneak into Gorm’s cabin before confronting him. Then all you have to do is attend King Harald court and wait for the dialogue options to appear before making a final decision.

You can use your Raven’s Eye and Odin’s Sight to easily find Sigurd in Alrekstad instead of roaming around the area aimlessly.

Confronting Gorm

Remember, you need to be fully cloaked and hooded if you want to sneak into Gorm’s cabin. If you’re not hooded, your cover will be blown, and the guards will be alerted.

All Gorm Choices

Gorm Choices

During the final moments of the Birthrights mission, King Harald gives you three choices that can decide Gorm’s fate.

I.  Choosing to Kill Him

If you choose to kill Gorm, King Harald is upset by your decision and takes matters into his own handsHe then changes Gorm’s name to Worm (serves him right if you ask me!) and banished him from the lands.

II. Choosing ‘Banish Him’

If you choose to Banish Gorm, King Harald compliments your wise decision before changing Gorm’s name to Worm and banishing him.

III. Choosing ‘You Decide’

If you choose the You Decide option, King Harald makes the same decision to rename Gorm to Worm and banishes him.

All three options have the same ending, so whichever option you choose will not affect the game’s story in the future as there are no consequences. Feel free to select any of them, but here’s my take if you still need some convincing.

Do I Spare, Kill or Let King Harald Decide Gorm’s Fate in AC Valhalla?

Choosing to Banish Gorm

Although all the options end up with Gorm being banished, I think the best choice would be to “Banish Him” as even King Harald would be impressed by your composure and wise decision. The same occurrence of Gorm’s name change and banishment will ensue.

Your decisions might be set in stone, but your mission is not entirely done. You will have yet another dialogue choice before finishing the quest.

Which Option Should I Choose: Seek Valhalla, Bound to Sigurd, or I do not know my fate?

Eivor Choice

After Gorm’s banishment, King Harald will ask if Eivor is willing to join his clan, to which you can either choose “Seek Valhalla,” “Bound to Sigurd,” or “I do not know my fate.” These options have no consequence attached and result in moving Eivor’s story forward. The only differences between them are a different dialogue exchange, so feel free to choose whichever you like.

After the end of the Birthrights mission, you will have only one task left before heading to England and starting the Viking revolution there. All in all, remember you can also revert to your saved game if you don’t like the choice you made.
