Secret Ending Explained – God of War: Ragnarok | A Viking Funeral

Brok and Sindri, the divine weapon-forging dwarf brothers, have got to be every God of War fan’s favorite comedic duo. This bickering duo is not only there for the humor but also acts as the sole weapon and gear upgrade station in the game. Moreover, they also act as a crucial plot factor in both the games of GOW’s Norse saga.

Unfortunately, Ragnarok does not conclude well for these vibrant brothers. In fact, it turns out to be the worst for them, unlike many other characters who were left with the hopes of a new beginning in the end.

Brok dies in God of War: Ragnarok by the hand of Odin, who had disguised himself as Tyr to spy on Kratos, Atreus, and their allies.

Odin kills Brok

It turns out that the Tyr, whom Kratos and Atreus freed from the prison in Svathelheim, was Odin in disguise all along. Earlier, he denied all of Atreus’ requests to lead an army to Asgard and fight against Odin.

But, later, ‘Tyr’s’ sudden interest and urge to be the general against Odin’s army makes Brok suspicious, and when he pokes ‘Tyr’ out for his sudden shift in behavior, enraged Odin or ‘Tyr’ blows his cover by stabbing Brok right in the chest. As Odin disappeared in thin air, Freya tried to save Brok, but it was too late.

Brok leaves the land of living with the following emotional final words to Sindri,

I know what you have done, and I forgive ya. But you gotta stop. You gotta let go

referring to the instance when he previously died and Sindri brought him back to life by collecting 3 out of 4 parts of his soul from the lake of Alfheim.

To add more to the brothers’ story, Santa Monica Studios have also added a secret ending to God of War: Ragnarok.

The secret ending of God of War: Ragnarok can be achieved by completing the favor (side quest) “A Viking Funeral” given by Lunda.

This favor can be completed by heading to Sverd Sands in Svartalfeim and taking part in Brok’s traditional Viking funeral.

Sindri and Kratos push Brok’s lifeless body on a small boat into the lake, and Freya shoots a fiery arrow onto it to cremate him.

The end credits roll once again when the grief-stricken Sindri disappears into a different dimension after the funeral ends.

Does Sindri forgive Atreus?

Sindri does not forgive Atreus and Kratos for the death of Brok, which can be inferred from the secret ending where he shrugs off Kratos’ hand as he tries to console him.
