Romance is slowly becoming a norm in the RPG genre of video games because most gamers these days prefer to have a combination of an action-adventure RPG and dating sim blend into one single title.
As Genshin Impact is one of the most popular open-world action-adventure RPGs with a large cast of cheerful and likable characters, it sure seems obvious that it should have many romance options, but unfortunately, that’s not the case!
Genshin Impact does not have any romance options. Its wide range of characters exists only to mix up the combat gameplay and change the tone of the conversations in the game’s extensive storyline.
The game also does not go out of its way to provide any cheeky flirtatious dialogue options as it does not fit the game’s theme of exploration and adventure. The closest alternative to dating available to Genshin Impact players are the hangout quests, introduced after the 1.4 update.
What are the Hangout quests in Genshin Impact?
Hangout events are special replayable story quests with multiple endings in Genshin Impact. These dialogue-based quests allow players to spend some quality time with a dozen characters in the game.
Players participate in these quests as the traveller, and even though there is nothing seriously romantic to these events, still, in some cases, the characters may end up flirting a bit, especially in the quests involving Noelle and Barbara.
All the hangout quests have six endings, including a “best ending,” which will lead you into the ideal relationship with the quest character, which may or may not be outrightly romantic.
Interestingly, most of the hangout quests show up as Act I, which makes me believe that there will be a continuation to each of these quests, which will provide more time for the players to develop a potential romantic relationship with the given characters.

- Diona – Act I: The Cat and the Cocktail
- Ningguang – Act I: The Jade Chamber’s Returning Guest
- Yun Jin – Act I: A Song That Knows Grace
- Sayu – Act I: Yoohoo Art: Seichou no Jutsu
- Thoma – Act I: A Housekeeper’s Daily Chores
- Beidou – Act I: When the Crux Shines Bright
- Gorou – Act I: The Canine General’s Special Operations
- Kuki Shinobu – Act I: The Gang’s Daily Deeds
How to unlock Hangout quests in Genshin Impact?
Initial Hangout quests are unlocked after reaching Adventure Rank 26 and completing Archon Quest Prologue: Act III – Song of Dragon & Freedom in Genshin Impact.
To access the Hangout quests:
- Open the quest menu in Genshin Impact.
- Select the Story Quest button on the bottom left of the menu.
- Navigate to the Hangout Quests tab on top of the newly opened window.
You can access all the hangout quests from here, but you have to unlock each one of them separately using two (2) story keys each.
Story keys are acquired by completing Daily Commissions in Genshin Impact. For every eight (8) Daily Commissions completed, you will be rewarded with one (1) story key.
Will romance ever be added to Genshin Impact?
Romance options may be added to Genshin Impact subject to the fans’ high demand for dating options, as the game’s developer, miHoYo, is known for listening to their community.
Unfortunately, as of now, there is no official announcement regarding the addition of romance options or a dating DLC to the game from the developers.
