Hollow Knight is a 2017 MetroidVania action-adventure video game developed and published by Team Cherry and is currently available on all the major platforms. In the game, the player takes control of the Knight, an unnamed insectoid warrior who travels across the destroyed kingdom of Hallownest that is afflicted by a paranormal illness.
Apart from its fascinating narrative and unique gameplay mechanics, the game is also famous for being brutally difficult and not allowing the players to even adjust the difficulty.
Hollow Knight does not have an easy mode or difficulty settings. Initially, casual gamers may find the difficulty of the game frustrating.
The developers have deliberately kept the difficulty impossibly hard for the game, so the gamers can get a sensation of achievement when they overcome a difficult enemy.

How to make Hollow Knight easier?
Hollow Knight can be made easier by using mods available on NexusMods. Unfortunately, there is no legitimate way to make the game easier.
“EasyMode” is the best mod to make Hollow Knight easier. The EasyMode makes the following tweaks to the game:
- All charm costs are reduced by 1.
- Sitting at a bench gives 2 free lifeblood masks.
- Nail damage is increased using the formula dmg = 8 + 5 * upgrades. (Instead of dmg = 5 + 4 * upgrades)
- Soul collection is increased by 6 per nail hit. (With no charms, 2 hits now allow a spell or focus)
- Focus time is reduced by half.
- Dying no longer loses geo or causes a shade to spawn.

To install the Hollow Knight EasyMode mod
- Download the latest Mod Manager / Mod Installer from below.
(Click: Manual download, Login, Slow download, Save File)
2. Double-click the exe.
3. If asked, point to your Hollow Knight installation folder. (C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight)
4. The program will download a list of public Hollow Knight mods.
5. Install “SeanprCore” from the list.
6. Install “EasyMode” from the list.
7. When installed, while keeping the program running, start Hollow Knight.
8. At the start-up of Hollow Knight, you will see text in the upper-left corner indicating the mods which you just installed.
9. Play the game.
Is Hollow Knight harder than Dark Souls?
Hollow Knight can be as difficult as Dark Souls because of its hard-to-master core mechanics and brutal bosses.
