ESA Has Officially Canceled Both Digital & Physical Meets for E3 2022

We all saw E3’s fate being hanging by a thread ever since Omicron threats loomed large across the United States. Firstly, the ESA opted for a digital conference“due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees.”

Then, as the situation further deteriorated, the reliable Jeff Grubb suggested that  the chances of E3 2022, online or physical, happening are pretty slim.

Since the ESA didn’t confirm this rumor, many enthusiasts were still hopeful of watching their favorite devs unveil the finest pieces of tech at the showcase this year. Therefore, they took the VentureBeat journalist’s words with a pinch of salt. But as it turns out, Jeff Grubb’s wasn’t incorrect at all.

The Entertainment Software Association officially announced today that E3 2022 would not take place as both in-person and virtual meets for the event have been canceled. To assure fans about the event’s future, the association vowed to make a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience” in 2023.

Initially, the news of E3 being scrubbed was revealed by a tweet from Razer PR Lead Will Powers, who claimed to have received an email that confirmed the bad news.

But thankfully, that’s not it for fans.

While most admirers must be sick as a parrot ever since this confirmation broke, what must be remembered here is that when one door closes, another opens. What are we talking about?

As soon as the news of E3 cancellation emerged, Geoff Keighley jumped into the scene to announce his Summer Game Fest for this year’s June. This is fantastic news as enthusiasts won’t have to fiddle their thumbs this summer in the absence of E3.

Since Keighley has promised a Kickoff Live show with many announcements, first looks, and other exciting elements, there should be no shortage of gaming content for viewers to be hooked on.
