God of War Ragnarok is a thrilling play for sure, but it also has certain parts in the game where players have to use their minds to decipher puzzles. The yellow cracks emitting from stones are one such mystery, and you can easily spot them at multiple places throughout the game. You can try taking a swing at them, but you will soon discover that these cannot be broken. Don’t look any further; here’s an easy guide to smashing these cracks.
You will only be able to break them with the Draupnir Spear. It is both a melee and a long-range weapon, and said to be the “first weapon a Spartan learns.” The Draupnir Spear can be thrown an infinite number of times, and has several powerful techniques.
How to obtain the Draupnir Spear?
In the ‘Forging Destiny’ quest, one of the objectives is to forge the Draupnir Spear. But first, you need to fix the mechanism of the broken switch, which will take you to the forge. Simply follow these steps, and in the end, you will have a new weapon in hand.
- Using your Axe, obtain some silver material and give it to Brok.
- Do the above step to chop up some bronze material as well.
- Brok will now fix the mechanism, and you will be taken underwater to the forge.
- Give your bag to the Lady mermaid, who will then convert the ring and the blade into the Spear.
- When asked for a god’s blood, Kratos will offer his to conceal the weapon.
- She will turn the Draupnir Spear into a ring, which you can use as a spear once you’re above water.
How to break Yellow Cracks with Draupnir Spear
Once you obtain the Tertiary Weapon, try taking a swing at the shimmering golden cracks and you will be surprised at your new ability.
- Stand in front of a yellow crack.
- Throw the Draupnir Spear at it to make it stick.
- Once the spear is embedded in the stone, detonate it. You will then find the crack absent.
Breaking open the yellow cracks will sometimes let you go to places you couldn’t before. So, if you see one, make sure to break it open. Even though they are not marked on the map, they are kind of hard to miss with their radiating shimmer.
