Elden Ring was one of the most anticipated games of the year and one of the most ambitious projects from the developer FromSoftware. The game has received overwhelming praise and is climbing the charts to become one of the highest-rated games in history. FromSoftware fans will now be able to enjoy the Elden Ring experience while traveling as well, as the game has been verified for the Steam Deck.

The first wave of Steam Deck shipments started today, the same day as the release of Elden Ring. The game has been released on multiple platforms, including PC via Steam. So, fans wondered if they could play the game using Valve’s latest handheld system.

We now have official confirmation from Valve that Elden Ring is now Steam Deck verified. Not only this, but Valve confirmed that several other FromSoftware games are also now compatible on the Steam Deck. These include Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Dark Souls 2: Scholar Of The First Sin, and Dark Souls 3

The Steam Deck currently has over 240 titles from the Steam catalog that have been verified as ‘compatible’. Fans will have to wait a little longer to play Dark Souls Remaster, Dark Souls 3 Deluxe Edition, and Dark Souls 2 on the handheld, but it should no doubt be possible soon.

Games on the Steam catalog are divided into four titles when it comes to Steam Deck compatibility. These categories define how well the game will run on the system, from running perfectly without any modification to not running at all. The last category is filled with games that have yet to be tested. Steam users can now verify which of their games can work on the Steam Deck through a few simple steps.

Given that Elden Ring is such an ambitious title, fans are worried if the Steam Deck hardware will be able to handle the game, especially in the battery department. It remains to be seen how the game performs in the real world, but compatibility verification is a step in the right direction.
