Elite Dangerous And The World Next Door Are Free On Epic Games Store

In this week’s pool of free titles on Epic Games Store, Elite Dangerous, an open-world space flight simulator, and The World Next Door, a hybrid of puzzle and visual novel genres, are up for grabs!

It’s always a great time when some genuinely fantastic games are up for anyone to get for free! It doesn’t always have to be on the scale of something as legendary as GTA V going free for half a month, but something delightful such as this week’s games is always welcome.

Last week too, we got ourselves Textorcist, which essentially involves “dodging bullets while typing exorcisms at the very same time.” That game was also a fantastic deal in its own right, being a bullet hell shooter with a brilliant twist.

This week, however, we’re getting something even better, with the first of this week’s two free games being Elite Dangerous.

In one of my previous articles, the game was described as

“A space flight simulation game developed by Frontier Developments in which the players can explore a realistic recreation of the Milky Way galaxy.”

Honestly, the game’s concept is enough to attract many people for the price of absolutely nothing, but the game is offering a lot more than merely that!

You see, you’ll not only be getting the base game of Elite Dangerous but also it’s life-sized, or in this case, galaxy-sized expansion Horizons, which was brought into the game in October.

It brought with it some significant changes to the game, including planetary lands and SRV ground vehicles, multi-person crew options, ship-launched fighters, and the return of the Thargoids, who are basically the game’s bad guys.

Not to mention, the game’s next significant expansion, titled Odyssey, is set to arrive in 2021, so now is probably the best time to get Elite Dangerous! That said, grab the game for free while you still can!

The next game that’s free for the week is The World Next Door, which is “a mix of lightning-fast puzzle battles, powerful storytelling, and immersive visual novel elements.”

The game involves a rebellious teen who gets stuck in a parallel world full of strange and magical creatures. It is developed by Rose City Games and published by Viz Media.

Despite being a little too imaginative with its concept, the game is one of the most unique experiences out there, and now that it’s free, I don’t see why you shouldn’t check it out and at least give it a try!

Regardless, these games will disappear by the week’s end so make sure you get them in your library and give them a try. Also, cheers to Epic Games Store for providing us with new games to play for free every week, for it’s certainly a blessing a disguise during these boring times!

The game was released on Microsoft Windows in 2014, Xbox One in 2015, and PlayStation in 2017 to widespread positive reviews.

About The World Next Door

Featuring “A mix of lightning-fast puzzle battles, powerful storytelling, and immersive visual novel elements,” The World Next Door revolves around Jun, a rebellious teen who finds herself trapped in a parallel world that is inhabited by magical creatures.

But the question remains; will she be able to make her way back home successfully?

The game was developed by Rose City Games and published by Viz Media on Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, and macOS to highly positive reviews.
