Resident Evil Village Now Has Barney Modded into the Game

Resident Evil Village is releasing in just a few days, and the demo has already been with fans, giving them an initial taste of the game. With superb graphics, nightmarish enemies, spooky atmosphere, and similar gameplay mechanics to its predecessor, Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village aims to be one of the best horror games ever. The game may be close to releasing, but modders have already been busy making changes to the demo itself.

Twitter user Marcos RC has found a way to put Barney the Dinosaur, within the Resident Evil Village demo, leading to equally hilarious and terrifying results. Every enemy NPC in the castle demo has been transformed into Barney the Dinosaur, and we’re hoping a full mod comes out for this exact purpose.

The Resident Evil franchise has been in a renaissance period for a while, and mods have become quite common within the series. When the remake of Resident Evil 2 was released, it was followed by several mods for Mr. X and Jill as well. The same thing happened with the release of the Resident Evil 3 remake, but the mods were for Nemesis, Leon, and Claire. Some were fairly simple, giving the characters a simple re-skin, while others went far more in depth, adding entirely new characters into the game.

It will be very interesting to see what the modding community does with Resident Evil Village once they get their hands on the full game. It seems that Village is going to have more NPCs than Resident Evil 7, giving modders a lot of room to flex their creativity. But it also poses a challenge for the community as they need to put more work into the mods so that the gameplay isn’t hampered too much by the added modifications.

We aren’t sure the link between Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, but players can expect the return of the previous game’s protagonist Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield. We also know that Village is going to be much larger than Resident Evil 7. The finer details of Resident Evil Village have yet to be explained, but given that it’s a horror game, it makes more sense to play it to discover its mysteries.

Resident Evil Village releases on May 7th, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
